SPACE NI (Supporting People and Community Enterprise) has been successfully delivering Home 2 Hospital across the Mournes area since 2015, and is delighted that even more local older people can now avail of this vital service In the Slieve Gullion Area from February 2020.

The Home 2 Hospital projects, have been developed in response to a need identified by older people and NM&D Councillors and will provide a much-needed volunteer led service for older people and their families.

The projects are available for those aged 60+, living in the Slieve Gullion district electoral area and Kilkeel and surrounding areas that need help attending out of area hospital appointments,  for example:  Belfast, Craigavon and Dungannon.

SPACE NI CEO Jacinta Linden said, “We know how important this service is to so many individuals and families, it’s a life line of support to those aged over 60, many of the users live alone in rural areas and public transport just wouldn’t be an option.”

Home2Hospital users report feeling safe and somewhat more able for their journey knowing they will be picked up from their home, taken to their appointment and left back to their door.

If you are 60+, live in Kilkeel or Slieve Gullion and have no alternative transport to out of are hospital appointments and would like to register for Home2Hospital please click the link here or call the office on 0283 0835 764
